A Day to Remember and Honor…

November 11th, 2010 by Coop Queen

Since the beginning, Americans have fought and died for their country. They’ve fought to gain independence, to maintain independence, to defend another nation’s freedom, and to this day to ensure our freedom and democracy.

Men and women have played and continue to play an important role in defending our nation.  It is on this 11th day of the 11th month of the year that we take time to reflect and honor those men and women.

My respect and appreciation for those that endure a lifetime of sacrifices remains resolute. My sincere thanks and appreciation goes out to all the men and women who have served our military in any capacity.

As recognition Cluckers would like to present all Veterans and Active-Duty Military a FREE entrée. Show us your Veteran’s Organization Card or Military I.D. and choose from a special Veteran’s Day menu with Clucker’s favorite entrées. This is Cluckers way of saying Thank You!

Tailgate Away and Away…

September 9th, 2010 by Coop Queen

Behold, the tailgate party – the pinnacle of human achievement. Since the dawn of parking lots, man has sought to fill his gut with food and alcohol in anticipation of watching others exercise. “- Homer Simpson

They say all you need is a tailgate but all you really need is a Texan spirit. Last year, Reliant Stadium was recognized as having the best tailgating experience by Commissioner, Joe Cahn, as he made his way through to every NFL Stadium. Yes, Texans know how to serve it up. Better yet, Houstonites know how to make it work!

And so does Cluckers. We know that Tailgating is a huge part of the Texans Games so we have partnered up with the Houston Texans Liberty Tailgaters (TLT) as the official ‘Home Away from Home’. Every Texans Away Game Cluckers and TLT brings the fans together @ Cluckers for revelry like no other. It’s understood – EXCLUSIV-O!

What’s the story?! You can’t beat it. The price is $20.00 per person, all-you-can-drink domestic draft, fun and games (we’re talking washers, ping pong, beer pong, face-painting, etc.), TWO (yes, dos) 70+ inch HD TVs, Clucker’s special Texans Tailgate menu, and the TLT decked out bus! Have you seen it?! It’s totally rockin’ out – and…oh…how the beer is a-flowin’ from that bus!

So, if you haven’t had a chance to join us, TLT, and our sensational, Texans-wow-fans, it’s not too late. We’ll be helping TLT kick-off this Sunday at the Reliant Center (7 AM early birds!) – $15 a person (@ Reliant only) – all you can eat and drink. So, get to steppin’, socialize, and buzz-on the Texans to drive through to the playoffs by knocking down the Colts! And remember to visit Cluckers for the Texans Away Games!

Check out a few photos of Clucker’s first Tailgate with TLT, Saturday, August 14, 2010.

Karaoke Cluckers Style

July 16th, 2010 by Coop Queen

When some of us think of karaoke, we imagine a group of ‘twenties’ wailing their favorite oldie-but-goodie after guzzling a fair amount of liquid courage – passing it off as something of a drunk man’s sport. Or some pretend karaoke is a trend for individuals that can swoon the crowd over with vocals that would land them a spot on American Idol. In either case, it’s easy to imagine this form of entertainment available only to young adults 21 and over.

Cowboys player profile series: Miles Austin

May 18, 2012 from cowboysblog.dallasnews.com

Position: Wide receiver

Size: 6-2, 215 pounds

Age: 27

College: Monmouth

Drafted: Undrafted

Experience: Entering his seventh season

Contract status: He signed a six-year, $54 million extension in September of 2010 that binds him to the club through 2016. The Cowboys took advantage of the uncapped year in the NFL and poured slightly more than $17 million into the first year of his contract. The NFL has since ruled that the club tried to circumvent the league’s financial structure by front-loading that deal and has stripped the Cowboys of $10 million in cap space over the next two seasons as punishment. The Cowboys have taken their case to arbitration.

2011 review: One of the league’s top receivers the previous two seasons struggled to stay on the field.

A series of hamstring injuries — first to his left, then his right — forced Austin to miss six games. What’s more, it robbed him of the effectiveness he displayed in becoming the team’s most dangerous receiver.

Austin caught just 43 passes for 579 yards after combining for 150 receptions and 2,361 yards the previous two seasons. He finished fourth on the team in receptions and was plagued by drops, including one in the fourth quarter of a loss to the New York Giants on Dec. 11 that likely would have given the Cowboys a touchdown and the victory.

Quarterback Tony Romo has a special rapport with Austin. That was evident in Week Two, when Austin caught nine passes for 143 yards and three touchdowns in an overtime win over San Francisco. But he suffered the first of his hamstring injuries late in that game and was never the same.

Austin managed just two receptions of more than 20 yards in the final three months of the season. He managed only 33 yards more receiving in the final four games of the season than he did in Week Two against the 49ers.

2011 grade: C minus

Outlook in 2012:
Austin is the team’s most consistent big play threat when healthy. He’s had seven games of 140 or more receiving yards since bursting on the scene with a 250-yard effort against Kansas City in October of 2009.

Austin must re-establish himself this season. His injuries led to Laurent Robinson’s rise. Now that Robinson is gone, he needs to return to the level he performed in 2009 and 2010.

What’s your grade? Let us know HERE.
